Looks halfway between lego instruction diagrams and cartoons. In the eighties. What's not to like? Actually it's so close to one of these (or maybe to some PC graphics program of the early nineties?) that I'm getting a strong uncanny valley effect.
Its a bit Borderlandesque. Which is good.
And yep I'd pay for a game that looked like that. That sort of visual style certainly wouldn't lose a game any points in my book, probably the contrary.
Upon looking at the images at original size I will throw in a suggestion to use AA and/or tone down and/or remove the black outlines :)
Looks like a good base but :
- not sure about the black outline. doesn't mix well with the color of the ship.
- there is a strange effect , a kind of reverse ambient occlusion.
